Mayes Brook

MAYESBROOK PARK

PROJECT OVERVIEW

An example of the urban river restoration projects in British cities that I have been involved with in various project roles.  This project, for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, was focussed on replacing a concrete trapezoidal channel with a more natural earth channel through Mayesbrook Park.  The photograph of the replacement channel shows a gravel bed and fine urban silt, passing from upstream, deposited inside bends and on the floodplain.  The project was awarded an ‘Olympic Medal’ by the River Restoration Centre.
